About the Course

Have you ever wondered how a community works or what makes a town a great place to live?

In Kid Town, students will explore the exciting world of communities, businesses, and responsible
citizenship through hands-on learning and creative play.
Together, students will design and build their very own Kid Town, deciding what businesses, services,
and community spaces, their town needs to help people live, work, and play.

Along the way, they will learn about important community helpers, why places like stores and libraries matter, and what it means to be a responsible citizen.

Students will also explore basic money concepts, including where money comes from, how it is earned,
and the importance of saving and spending wisely.
Through interactive activities, games, and projects, children will begin to understand how money moves through a community.

As a final project, each student will become a young entrepreneur by creating their own business. They
will choose a product, design and build it, create advertisements, and practice selling their product in a
fun classroom marketplace.

This engaging class encourages creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and real-world learning while
helping young students build confidence and practical life skills.

Hello everyone!
My name is Christie Perez, and I am the owner of ATC Martial Arts & Enrichment, a college professor, and a doctoral student in public health. As a veteran homeschooling mom who graduated two children—and is currently schooling my rising 2nd grader—I am right there in the trenches with you!
While I teach all age groups, early learners have my heart. I believe children thrive through active, hands-on play, movement, and joy.
Because little people have big emotions, I prioritize a patient, loving environment where every child feels safe to take risks and grow.
At 4'9", getting down on their level comes naturally to me! I believe connecting with
children means truly seeing the world through their eyes and helping them discover that learning can be
both meaningful and fun.
I cannot wait to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in your children.
