About the Course

In this hands-on class, students will learn the art of documentary filmmaking by exploring real stories, conducting interviews, and creating short films.
Students will develop skills in research, storytelling, camera work, audio recording, and basic video editing while learning how documentaries can inspire understanding and change.
Using professional film equipment, students will gain practical experience behind the camera and in the editing process.
This course encourages students to find their own voice, use film as an art form, and share stories about issues, ideas, and experiences that matter to them.
Over the course of the semester, the class will collaborate to create a finished documentary project that showcases their creativity, teamwork, and storytelling skills.

The course will be taught by a film major at California Baptist University with experience creating award-winning short films, providing students with both technical instruction and insight into the creative process of professional filmmaking.

No prior filmmaking experience or equipment is required.
