Skyward Bound: Exploring the Science & Mechanics of Flight
About the Course
Exploring the Mechanics of Flight will teach students about aerodynamics and engines on airplanes, flight rules, airspace, and aircraft flight controls. It is a science course and will have 3 field trips including a rocket shoot, flying radio control airplanes, and a trip to the March AFB Museum guided by Todd Nash.
In the spring semester, Todd will teach Skyward Bound: Exploring Careers in Aviation, teaching students about the many career fields in aviation including air traffic control, aviation maintenance, airport operations, aerospace engineering, and the many pilot careers. Field trips will include at least 3 of the following: an air traffic control facility, an aviation maintenance school, airport operations at a local airport, and a flight in a small airplane with your student at the controls!
Instructor Todd Nash was a Captain in the Marine Corps and flew F-18 jets, ran
airfields, and has run 30 air shows all over the world, both military and civilian.
His extensive background in the aviation world will benefit your students in their
learning about the science of aviation.
